Well, Wendi Sullivan (aka Violet Blue) is stirring up another dustorm of drama! Ironically she hosted a panel at SWSW on 'How Not to be a Douchebag at SXSW' while she has made her entire career out of being a douchebag. I and other attendees checked it out so we could roll our eyes on her poor attempt to get in SXSW for free. Hope the hosts don't make the same mistake next year. Speaking of Douchbaggery - many times I've been in NOPA, a restaurant here in SF and see her making a scene, taking pictures of herself guzzling cocktails and generally calling attention to herself.

Her latest controversy is that she have been fired from the Chron because she disagreed with them trying to make money off her articles via common SEO practices. She's all POd because her links to her articles on her blogs are now broken. Boo hoo. She claimed the Editor, Bronstein, was one of her 'good friends'. Apparently, he was probably sick of her crap too.

Mark Pauline, leader and former 'good friend' and mentor at SRL also turned his back on her after an injury that she caused while she carelessly piloted a robotic machine at Maker Faire a few years back. She has never admitted publicly that this happened, and as usual, can't figure out why they kicked her out of SRL. SRL had too much class to disclose publicly what happened - but what we have gleaned from witnesses, she burned a woman watching the show, and caused thousands of dollars in damage to the parking lot where the show was held. She didn't help out with the repair costs which were paid for by Mark Pauline. While the victim was recovering from burns on her face, "Violet" Blue was kicking back at home with a nice beverage and posted on her blog how she showed off the machine and complained how no one helped her put her machine away.

Just a note on point 4:

If you're visiting the southern areas of Africa, a firm handshake is a sign of aggression. Don't be offended if you end up shaking hands with what feels like a dead fish as this is a sign that the person shaking hands with you is being friendly.
