I really don’t like Violet Blue because I feel like her “sex positive” attitudes are sometimes actually pretty insulting to women who enjoy sex. Most of her suggested “porn for women” is naked women. It’s as if she thought I was looking for porn that would turn on my boyfriend without “offending” me instead of porn that would actually, you know, turn on ME. But the other day I was on Babeland and I figured, what the hell, her cunny book is probably the worst thing ever, but she’s so dude-centric her BJ book can’t be all bad. Still she manages to get some potshots in on women, who she’s convinced are all lying-lie liars. In the porn section she claims that women enjoy looking at porn even if they say they don’t, because their pussies get wet so that proves it. Well, women who get raped often get wet too, much to their horror. Violet Blue must think they’re liars who want it too, I guess. Earlier in the book, she’s very clear that the correlation between hardons and men’s arousal isn’t 1:1. I wonder how she’s so sure THEY’RE not liars. “Sex positive” my foot; under Violet Blue’s reign my actual arousal means zip b/c a wet pussy is all that matters. Lie back and think of England!

(My personal hypothesis — since there’s no proof either way “why” it happens — is that women will tend to get wet when they subconsciously anticipate sex happening, wanted or not. Because your subconscious figures it’s better to get raped than get raped AND have permanent vaginal damage. I think this is better supported by Occam’s razor than a giant conspiracy of prudish women [in a world where pole-dancing is a mainstream exercise regime], but if you’re already the sort who assumes women are just lying harpies, you might disagree.)
